“As BCSD Turkey we have been working for 15 years to make sustainability one of the basic strategies of the business world. Additionally, we continue to lead the institutions and companies from different industries in the sustainability arena by taking the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as the basis. Our increasing number of members every year shows how important this vision is becoming in the eyes of the Turkey’s business world. In this year’s General Meeting we wanted to do something different and gave the floor to the youth. We listened to the future of the business world directly from them and we see that a generation that is much more responsible, conscious and determined than our generation is emerging. Next year 38% of the global work force and 40% of entire consumers will be consisting of the Generation Z. There are some trends that we all need to consider as the business world in order to meet the high expectations of this generation, not to fall behind competition and to contribute to sustainable development. These trends are new generation of activist leadership, new business models to be shaped by responsible production and consumption, climate change and low carbon economy, and most importantly, the power of collaboration... We have established a Board of Directors that prioritizes diversity and inclusion to provide maximum contribution to our members. Members of our new Board of Directors consist of representatives from various industries. We are happy the announce that the ratio of women to men in our board of directors continues to be well balanced this year. Here I would like to address all companies and invite them to be become members of BCSD Turkey.”
